Starting An Online Business Steps 1 and 2 [ Steps 3 and 4 ]

In this article we will take you through some simple steps to create your own online business. The focus will be on selling other company's products or services at your own web site. There are a multitude of reputable companies willing to pay you a set fee or commission for producing sales, including us. This is a great way to get started as it will not cost you any money and you will learn many new things from the experience. If you already have something in mind to sell, so much the better. Either way, getting yourself established online is an important first step.

Once you are set up of course, you can sell anything you want. So follow this through to the end. It is much easier than you think and regardles of the income you generate, it can be very rewarding in itself. At the very least you will have got yourself an interesting new hobby and you will be ready when that earth-shattering idea you've been waiting for suddenly pops into your head.

Step 2 Getting your site ready. Skip this step. This involves planning the layout of your site. If you are planning to focus on one item then lay out your site accordingly. Assuming that you are new to this it might be best to concentrate your efforts on producing one page that you are happy with. Plan to add some related pages at a later date when you feel comfortable with the design of the original page and have a better idea of the content your site will contain. Selling multiple items will increase your income potential but it becomes even more important to have a layout that is easily navigated and tightly organized. Each item will need its own description and a clear indication of how it can be tried or purchased. Once again, if you can get that first page created to your liking you will find it much easier to expand. Use the layout of your first page as the base for creating the rest. If you have something specific to sell and are planning to put most of the focus on that one item it might be a good idea to build your web site around that theme. For example, if you are selling hand-made crafts, the title and look of your site should reflect that. If you are planning to start your online business in a more general manner such as we are suggesting and directing you to, then place the emphasis on organization and keep the look simple but business-like. It is much wiser to spend your time planning for a neat, clear and user-friendly web site than spending hours looking for the perfect background. In other words, organization comes first. You can always change the look later. To complete step 2 you should have a title for your site, a background that you feel is appropriate and preferably an idea on how your site will look when complete. Your page should be up and running with at least the title in place and you should be spending some time experimenting with design. You can upload them to your web site host and edit them there using your hosts's page editor or you can do it offline in a variety of ways. It is much easier than it sounds. A lot has been done to assist the person with no experience as you will soon find out. Step 2 is an important one as you are now getting ready to add items for sale. Don't worry about having a "perfect page" just yet. Take your time, get a feel for what you are doing and make sure you have a general layout that you like and is pleasing to the eye. Web sites that are unorganized and "sloppy" do not generally hold visitors very long. You can get away with not knowing any html but it is most beneficial if you learn even a little.
